Applications:
Aluminum sulfate for wastewater treatment.
Aluminum sulfate is an economical and effective product for phosphorus removal in wastewater treatment plants, for both human and industrial use, and purifies water by precipitating suspended solids. Aluminum sulfate for drinking water treatment. Aluminum sulfate can be used in drinking water because it is a coagulant and therefore causes suspended substances that, due to their size, would take a long time to settle.
Precautions:
Before working with phosphoric acid, you must be trained in the proper storage and handling of this chemical. Phosphoric acid reacts with finely powdered metals to form hydrogen gas, which is flammable and explosive. Because violent reactions occur, phosphoric acid must be stored in a way that prevents contact with water, ammonia, bleach, and nitromethane. Phosphoric acid is incompatible with strong bases (such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide), combustible materials, organic materials, alcohols, strong acids (such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, and nitric acids), amines, epoxides, metals, and metal salts. Store in tightly closed containers, in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from GLASS, RUBBER, PLASTICS and COATINGS.
