Applications:
It is used in coatings, enamels, and other coatings, making it a common component of paint strippers or degreasers due to its high solvent power. It is also used as an industrial solvent and for cleaning metals, thanks to its powerful degreasing properties. It serves as an extraction solvent in processes such as the removal of caffeine from unroasted coffee beans and tea leaves, resulting in decaffeinated coffee and tea. It is also used in spice processing, to extract hops for beer production, and in other processes within the food industry. Methylene chloride is used in the extraction of chemicals to produce medicines from plants and fruits, such as vitamins, antibiotics, and steroids. Methylene chloride is also used in the manufacturing process of photographic film, synthetic fibers, adhesives, plates, and inks.
