Details

Applications:

A highly viscous, brown liquid. It is a component of laundry detergents and cleaning products and can be used in both liquid and solid detergents. It is used for its surfactant properties.

Precautions:

It causes burns to the respiratory tract, skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. It causes rapid irritation to the eyes and skin. Sulfonic acid is as corrosive as concentrated sulfuric acid; its corrosiveness increases with temperature, especially above 40°C. When the acid is handled with carbon steel, the iron generated by corrosion affects the product's quality. For this reason, it is recommended to store it in 304 or 316 stainless steel. It is recommended to handle the acid at temperatures between 30°C and 40°C to avoid pumping problems that occur at lower temperatures due to its high viscosity.
